  Regulation reminders:

· The bag limit for Unalaska Bay fresh and saltwaters is 5 salmon per day of which only 2 may be sockeye and 2 may be coho.

· The bag limit for the remainder of Unalaska Island is 5 salmon per day all of which may be sockeye or coho.

· Anglers are reminded that Town Creek (Iliuliuk) is closed to snagging upstream of the markers near the boat launch.

· Remember: the seasonal closure of the saltwaters within 250 yds of Summer’s Bay Creek is in effect as of August 16th.

· All freshwaters of Unalaska Island are closed to snagging year round.

· Anglers are reminded that many of the creeks flowing into Unalaska Bay have closed waters for a portion of the drainage or all of the drainage in some cases. Be sure to keep an eye out for signs marking closed waters and to consult the Southwest Alaska Sportfish regulation booklet for a complete list of sport fishing regulations for Unalaska Bay.

Fishing reports:

·         Pink salmon can be found in many local streams, particularly in Town Creek and Margaret’s Bay. Some reports indicate the pink run is later than usual and the fish are very large. There may still be some bright pinks around.

·         Silvers are showing up now and some have been caught in Town Creek and in front of Captain’s Bay Creek. They may also be able to be caught off local beaches this time of year as they travel the near-shore waters waiting to enter freshwaters. Silver runs should peak in mid-September

·         Silver’s should be showing up in Nateekin and Makushin rivers and should be able to be caught in the near-shore saltwaters in the vicinity of these creeks as well.

·         Remember that Summer’s Bay saltwaters are closed within 250 yds of the creek. If the creek mouth is blocked, the beach is still closed within 250 yds of the end of the creek.

·         The Unalaska Lake drainage is open to fishing for Dolly Varden but closed above the Church Hole for all salmon fishing.

·         Halibut continues to be good with recent reports of good fishing in Unalga Pass. Other areas with recent success include Nateekin Bay and inside Eider Point.

·         Late summer should be prime-time for catching Dungies. Nateekin and Broad Bay are reported to be hot spots. Dungies often move into shallower water in late-summer, look to shallower waters in the heads of local bays for good dungy fishing.
