The Unalaska Raiders boys basketball team gathered at City Hall Tuesday evening to receive a phone call from Alaska's governor, Bill Walker. Walker began by saying it was an honor for him to call and congratulate the team for winning the 2016 state championship. He said he's been following the team over the past few years, enjoyed watching them progress and complimented the 12 boys on their accomplishment. Walker also gave a shout-out to Coach Kent Russell and all the parents - indeed the whole community - for supporting the high schoolers on and off the court.
"You will carry this [win] for the rest of your life, I guarantee you," Walker told the team.
