Athletes Swim, Bike and Run in The 2017 Unalaska Triathlon

Last Saturday, September 23rd, athletes of all ages gathered at the Aquatics Center to begin the PCR sponsored 2017 Unalaska Triathlon.

The Tiny Tikes started off the event at 1:30pm, with Deklan Nettleton taking first with a total time of 00:17:43.

The Youth Division was up next with teammates Jordan Mahoney, Lucy Bagley and Hedya Whitaker securing first place with a time of 00:40:13.

Eleven participants signed up for the Teen and Adult heat, which began with an 800m swim. Athletes then hopped on their bikes for a 20K bike ride to Summer Bay and back. The last leg was a 3K run out to Kelty Field finishing in front of the Aquatics Center.

Shane Morris, Liam Robinson and Torrence Lee came in first place with a total time of 1:25:29. Following only 16 seconds behind were Joanna “Flipturn Charlie” Hinderberger, Matt Scott and Joni Scott.

Chrissy worked as the Arts & Culture Director from 2015 until she moved away from the community in 2019. She now works with us as a consultant, producer, and video editor on special projects.
