Burglar Robs Red Fish Electronics

Vic Fisher

A burglar broke into Red Fish Electronic store at the airport early this morning.

The thief got away with the store's entire inventory of tablets, most of the store's iPods and several smart watches, including a $600 apple smart watch.

Store owner Vic Fisher said this morning the entire burglary was caught on his surveillance system.

The thief, along with a suspected partner, first approached the store, apparently for reconnaissance just after midnight.

They returned shortly with a metal pipe to break the front window and one thief entered the store. It only took a few minutes for him to grab the loot and take off.

Soon afterwards, a port employee driving past noticed the store's front door was open and alerted police.

Fisher is required to carry a one million dollar insurance policy and said he hopes that some of the stolen inventory will be covered under that policy.

Fisher said he did not recognize the burglar, but noticed the man was carrying a distinctive black backpack with a white bird logo on it.

According to Unalaska Police Sgt. Roger Bacon, officers are currently conducting an investigation. He says there's no way of knowing if the burglars have left the island. Bacon added the thief knew what he was going for and specifically targeted the electronic store.
