Emergency Planning Committee Seeking Council Member

The Aleutian Region and Pribilof Islands Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is seeking a Council Member to fill the recently vacated “elected local official” seat on the committee. The LEPC, which includes the communities of Unalaska, Atka, Adak, St. Paul and St. George, is mandated to develop and review emergency response plans and provide information about to our citizenry about chemicals in our communities. The LEPC meets quarterly, and also participates in Spring and Fall Preparedness Conferences and various outreach activities. The vacant seat has a two-year term.

Emergency response plans are developed by the LEPC with stakeholder participation and membership include at a minimum, representatives from the following groups: elected officials, law enforcement, civil defense, firefighting, first aid, health, local environmental, hospital, transportation personnel, broadcast and print media, community groups, and owners/operators of facilities subject to regulation by SARA Title III.
