Purita Larot Stonecipher, long time resident of Unalaska, passed away on June 16, 2018, in Vacavalley Hospital in California.  She was 67 years old.

Purita was born on June 5, 1951, in Helen Village, Philippines.  She grew up and spent her early adult years in the Philippines. She moved to Unalaska in 1992, when she was hired for a job as a seafood processor.  While working at Alyeska Seafoods, Purita met Rocky Stonecipher who would later become her husband.  They were married here in Unalaska, on the beach at Summer Bay.  Purita went on to work a variety of other jobs in the community, but her love for cooking persuaded her to start her own business.  She cooked food from her homeland of the Philippines for countless local events over the years, and she was a popular vendor at the Fourth of July and Heart of the Aleutians festivals. Purita enjoyed singing, dancing, fishing, traveling, and visiting her friends and family.  She was actively involved in the lives of her beloved grand children.  Purita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was well known around the community for her bright smile and her caring attitude.  She will be greatly missed.

Purita is survived by her husband, Rocky Stonecipher; her daughters, Roselle Larot Aganon and Mary Aganon Agbayani;  her son, Romeo Larot Aganon; seven brothers; two sisters; eleven grand children; and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Purita Larot Stonecipher will take place on July 26, 2018, 7 PM at Unalaska’s St. Christopher by the Sea Catholic Church.  A potluck will take place following the service.
