Young Lady Raiders Debut A Positive Experience, Says Coach

The Unalaska Lady Raiders played their first game of the season against the Lumen Christi Angels in Anchorage on Wednesday night. Four sophomore and two freshman ladies made the trip.

The first game started off with a few jitters for the young Lady Raiders, who had little to no varsity experience before the game. The Lady Raiders fell behind by 14 at half time.

The Lady Raiders came out in the second half rattling off eight straight points before the Angels salvaged the Lady Raiders run, forcing turnovers in their full court pressure. The final score was 48-27.

"These game showed what our girls can do," coach Casey Clausius said. "Even in the loss, the girls gained positive experiences. At this level we have keep learning and wanting to improve. I believe this game showed we are heading in the right direction."

The game's leading scorers were KiaraVillamor with 10 points; Mia McWilliams with seven points; and Alyssa Tungul  with five points.
