UCSD

The Junior High Department selected Vivian as Student of the Week (Dec 7-11, 2015) for the following reasons:

Vivian Nguyen has been an outstanding young 7th grade student so far this year in science. She is always eager to learn and participate in anything and anyway possible. She has an infectious smile and laugh that always brings a positive atmosphere to whatever she is involved in. She is beginning to emerge as a leader amongst a large group of students. Keep up the good work Vivian it will pay off in the long run. ~Mr. Gibson, Science Teacher

The Unalaska Lady Raiders played their first game of the season against the Lumen Christi Angels in Anchorage on Wednesday night. Four sophomore and two freshman ladies made the trip.

The first game started off with a few jitters for the young Lady Raiders, who had little to no varsity experience before the game. The Lady Raiders fell behind by 14 at half time.

The Lady Raiders came out in the second half rattling off eight straight points before the Angels salvaged the Lady Raiders run, forcing turnovers in their full court pressure. The final score was 48-27.

“From the Philippines to the U.S.” is a story about the childhood of my mother, Alma Sefuentes, childhood, who has a special personality that brings her motivation throughout her difficult life as a child. Through several interviews, I asked her about her life in the Philippines and how she was able to adapt to living in Hawaii in the United States, with the support and help of her family. Today, she lives in Unalaska, Alaska with her husband and three kids, in a place she calls home.
