First Season Loss For Raider Boys

 The Raider Boys experienced their first loss of the season against the Bethel Warriors. Jumping to a quick lead in the beginning, the Warriors were up 13-6 with 2 minutes and 13 seconds left in the first quarter. By half-time, Warriors held the lead above the Raiders with a score of 24-20. 

By the fourth quarter, Bethel kept their lead against the Raiders. With 2:30 left, the Warriors led 45-35. At 2:19, Ben Enlow fouled out closely followed by his brother, Ross Enlow, with 1:29 left.

The Unalaska Lady Raiders basketball team played the Birchwood Christian Warriors Saturday. The Lady Raiders trailed at the end of the first half, 19-11, after Alyssa Tungul finished off with an elbow jumper.

Second half the Lady Raiders couldn't close the Warriors' lead. The final score was 34-23. 

The two leading scorers were Alyssa Tungul with 10 points and Kiara Villamor with 7 points. Despite their loss, the Lady Raiders played a solid fourth quarter, displaying heart and desire, says coach Casey Clausius. 

Raiders do it Again!

The Raider boys pulled off a third consecutive win starting off a promising season today when they played the Kotzebue Huskies. Raiders held a strong lead throughout the first half, and at as half time approached had a leading score of 29-20. 

Raiders Dominate Nome in Subway Showdown

Thursday night, the Raider boys basketball team played the Nome Nanooks in Nome.  The Raiders played hard, dominating for most of the game and getting a final score of 50 points against the Nanooks' 23.  Tanner Leggett made 18 points and Trevor Wilson made 14, making them the game's top scorers.  

The Raider girls also played hard against Lumen Christi on Wednesday and Ninilchik on Thursday, but lost both games.  

Senator Lisa Murkowski attended the boys' game against the Nanooks during her most recent visit to Nome, as a way to learn more about the area.

Nome Games Will Tip-Off KUCB Sports Coverage for 2016

The Unalaska boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams arrived in Anchorage this afternoon. The teens are on their way to play games in Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula and Nome.

The teams were scheduled to leave Tuesday, but inclement weather grounded their flights.

The boys' team is slated to play a game tonight at Lumen Christi High School in Anchorage. These are their first games of the year, and coach Kent Russell says they’re excited for it.
