Talk of the Town

Last weekend was busy for the athletes of Unalaska!

Starting on a crisp, clear Saturday morning at 10:15am in Kelty Park, the Raiders invited the community out for the Tustumena Invite. It was the final qualifying race before the State Championships on October 1st.

Coach Gibson began the morning by recognizing the accomplishments of the two seniors on the team this year, Taylor Holman and Anthony Lopez.

The Unalaska Raiders cross country team was on the road one last time this past weekend before their final home race of the season on September 17th at Kelty Field starting at 10:15am. They had yet another strong showing at the Seward Invitational at Seward High School and the New Balance 3K Flight Race at Russian Jack Golf Course in Anchorage. None of the Raider runners have run either course before so it was a good experience learning about race strategies and some new courses around the state.

Another Strong Showing for Raider Runners

Sep 6, 2016
David Gibson

The Unalaska Raiders had another strong showing for the second week in a row this past weekend at the ACS Class Invite on Friday and the Palmer Invitational on Saturday. The Raiders got some more valuable experience for a very young team. The ACS Class invite is a 3K flight race that is run according to what grade each runner is in. That race is always a fun one to watch and gets the athletes a little bit of experience before the big race in Palmer.
