Unalaska Community Broadcasting is a non-profit public media organization located in Unalaska, AK. Our mission is to inform, educate, entertain, and engage.

We began as a local access television station and have since developed into a provider Channel 8 Television, KUCB 89.7 FM Radio (a full service local radio station), repeater service for KSKA 91.1 FM, and a multi-media website.  We were incorporated in 1984 as a 501(c)3 charitable organization known at the time as Unalaska Community Television. UCTV broadcast a low-power television signal to the community of Unalaska over channel 8.  Channel 8 Television has been on the air continuously since then.  Our station is also provided over cable television. KIAL AM Radio was broadcasting in Unalaska at that time of our incorporation, and had been on the air since 1976.

When UCTV was formed in 1984, responsibility of KIAL was transferred from the City of Unalaska to UCTV. Our organization launched translator service of KSKA-FM Radio in 1991. In 1996, our name was changed to Unalaska Community Broadcasting to reflect the broad range of services we provide. In 2009 we replaced KIAL with KUCB 89.7 FM, a full-powered FM station for Unalaska.

Our organization is lead by a dedicated board of directors.  We have talented staffand a myriad of volunteers. KUCB’s Community Advisory Boardmeets each year to evaluate programming and help our board of directors confirm whether or not we are fulfilling our mission as a community radio station.
