This past weekend, four UCS high school teams, three junior high teams and one "Raider Mix" team of high school boys, girls and coaches competed in the Unalaska Crab Pot volleyball tournament. This 8-team double elimination tournament stretched over two days. The championship match was an exciting battle between the Raider Mix team and the Raider HS Gold team. The HS Gold team emerged victorious after winning the first two sets.
The Raiders Varsity Team is led by Coach Amber Hanson. "The Crab Pot tournament is always a fun weekend where all teams get to interact and compete with one another. It is a great opportunity for the older athletes to cheer on and support the younger participants as well as a chance for the younger athletes to see some friendly competition among older students. We have a great group out for volleyball this year and we're excited to see what the final two weeks of regular season brings us," Hanson said.
Several athletes were acknowledged for their skills and hard work during the competition. High school students, Julieanne Berikoff, Alexis Magalong, Vivian Nguyen, Zydneigh Earnshaw, Mae Hiceta, Ellen Yang, Lisa Tran, Aleutia Peters, JR Go, Kevin De Guzman, junior high students Jadrey Reynon, Vy Huynh, Karina Villamor, Angelina Seman, Allyssa Sevilla, and Glenyll Casia.
