The annual PCR Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration was Monday January 18th at 7pm. The theme was “Joining Hands Across Lands” and the event was hosted by Carlos Tayag, the PCR coordinator. There were several impressive dance performances, readings from the UCSD poetry contest winners, and the high school band rounded out the multicultural evening with a selection from a Jewish dance song called “Rikudim” led by Kerry McNamera.
Mixed in with video clips from King’s original “I Have A Dream” speech from 1963 were inspirational speeches from D. Tyrell McGirt, Andrea Magone, Reanna Marquez and Susan Honan.
After the event, the PCR invited the public to stay for light refreshments.
