The search for Unalaska’s next city manager starts this week.
The city has hired the consulting firm GovHR to lead recruitment efforts, and the company is now advertising the position.
Interim City Manager Nancy Peterson said the city’s goal is to narrow down the top candidates by Dec. 1 and extend a job offer before the New Year.
She told the City Council that means a tight timeline for recruiters, who are trying to hold on-site interviews before the busy winter travel season.
“I want to assure the council that we won’t jeopardize the quality of candidates based on trying to condense the schedule," said Peterson. "If we need more time, we’ll take the time.”
The interim city manager is under contract until mid-January.
