The PCR held an archery camp over the UCSD Spring break on March 7th through March 11th. Students in fourth grade through twelfth grade were invited to participate and the camp ended with a tournament on Friday from noon to 3pm.

Several friends and families of the archers sat patiently in the PCR gym bleachers to watch the tournament.

Participants were divided into two categories: the "Katniss" division for intermediate archers and the "Robin Hood" division for more advanced archers.

APIA Offers Free Unangam Tunuu Workshop

Mar 16, 2016

Those looking to learn or improve their Unangam Tunuu language skills are invited to an upcoming workshop in Anchorage. The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association is hosting a free, 2-day workshop in early April aimed at helping novice and intermediate speakers not only improve their language skills, but also their teaching skills so "they can hand off language to other community members," says workshop organizers.

The workshop will teach a method developed in St. Paul during the 2015 Summer Language Intensive.

Last Saturday around 1 pm, the Unalaska Public Library hosted an event to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The celebration commenced with Librarian Karen Kresh playing an audio book version of Green Eggs and Ham while kids in kindergarten through 4th grade sat with rapt attention.

Following the reading, Carlos Tayag and a few members of the Unalaska Drama Club preformed a theatrical version of The Lorax while Karen Kresh narrated. The event ended with a simple craft and Dr. Seuss themed snacks.

The Channel 8 Auction was last weekend on February 26th and 27th and it was a huge success!  Thanks to the support of volunteers and donors from all over the community,  the two-day event raised over $19,000! KUCB auctioned off more than 200 items, and all funds support Channel 8 TV's operating budget.

The volunteer auctioneers pulled out all of the stops to encourage community members to bid high and bid often: they sang, they danced, they modeled products with style and grace and in the process provided great entertainment for viewers.
