Unalaska’s proposed capital budget has grown 12 percent since February, when the Planning Department first presented a draft to the City Council.

Now, it totals $11.2 million.

The updated capital and major maintenance plan — unveiled this week — still includes money for generator upgrades, library renovations, and a live fire training facility.

Over the next three years, Unalaska’s library is scheduled to undergo a major expansion.

City officials released a timeline for the renovation last month, after architects finished the preliminary design.

They plan to hire an engineer next winter to finalize the blueprints and then pick a construction company by early 2020.

Generator upgrades. Library renovations. Even a new fire training facility.

These are just a few of the 18 projects that could receive city funding in the next fiscal year.

This week, the Planning Department presented the Unalaska City Council with an early draft of the 2019 Capital and Major Maintenance Plan, which totals almost $9.8 million.
